Pre-Order Terms

You are pre-ordering a physical book that has not been printed yet. Your card is charged today at $22. Estimated to ship December 2026. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before your copy ships, by emailing franki@toloseadog.com, and you do not have to give a reason.

One paperback copy of To Lose A Dog by Isaac H, at the pre-order price of $22 rather than the $28 retail price. Your order also includes immediate access to the Franki Keepsake Pack, a digital companion delivered through your pre-order hub.

An Amazon Kindle edition through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), an audiobook, and paperback availability on Amazon are coming next. They will be separate editions with their own release details and are not included in this paperback pre-order.

Pre-orders are charged in full at the time of purchase, which is what funds the print run. Because nothing has shipped yet, you can cancel for a full refund at any point before your copy leaves the warehouse. Email franki@toloseadog.com and we will process it; you do not need to give a reason.

Because you are charged up front, the cancellation right above is the important one, and it is deliberately generous: it lasts right up until your copy physically leaves the warehouse, however long that takes. Refunds return to your original payment method.

Printing and shipping a book involves people and machinery we do not control. If the date moves we will email you before you have to ask, and your cancellation right is unaffected, a later date is always a valid reason to want your money back.

If you buy the book as a gift, you remain our customer. The receipt, the updates, and the right to cancel are yours. The shipping address is collected at checkout and the book goes directly to them.

If you give us the recipient’s email address, you confirm that you are authorised to share it. We will send them exactly one message, at the time you choose, containing your note. They are never added to a mailing list. If you do not give an address, we have no way to contact them and the book simply arrives.

Your note is delivered by email only. We do not print or enclose a physical card.

The Franki Keepsake Pack is licensed to you for personal use. You may print it and write in it as much as you like. You may not resell it, redistribute it, or publish it. Access is delivered through a signed link to your pre-order hub; please do not share that link, because it is also the key to your order.

Two kinds. Order emails: your receipt, confirmation, address checks and shipping notices, are part of the service and have no unsubscribe link, because they are about a transaction you entered into. Book-progress emails are optional, and every one carries a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing from progress updates never stops the order emails.

We commit 1% of eligible book revenue to charities working in pet-loss support and emergency veterinary care. Eligible revenue means book line items after discounts, excluding tax and shipping. Cancellations remove the amount entirely and refunds reduce it proportionally.

The receiving charity has not been chosen yet and will be named on our impact page, with its registration number, before any money is sent. No charity has endorsed this book or agreed to anything on our behalf.

The book, the Keepsake Pack, the photographs of Franki, and everything written on this site belong to their author. Buying a copy buys you the copy, not the right to reproduce it. Quoting short passages in a review is welcome and expected.

This book is a memoir and a personal account of grief. It is not medical advice, psychological treatment, or veterinary guidance, and it is not a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or a crisis line in your country.

Our liability in connection with your order is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law where you live, including any statutory right to cancel or to a refund for goods that are faulty or not as described.
